How we start something plays a big role in how it goes. We have understood that with lesson design, instruction, assessment and more. But when it comes to how we start school, we haven't been very creative. Indeed, we not only have traditionally not inspired learning or creativity, but have instead instigated fear, frustration, confusion and a focus on compliance. Let's get all students excited about learning, their community and one another from day one. And then let's keep it going all year.
